Everyday Life with the Smiths
Rowland and Ingrid Smith are a couple very used to having a camera on them in the shearing sheds, but perhaps not so much in their own home. Rowland recently broke a shearing world record with a huge effort of 644 crossbred ewes in eight hours. Please re-read that. That is each sheep in under 45 seconds. Mammoth effort! But that was just the latest in a string of very very big achievements for this extremely humble man. Google him... it's big stuff! (Ok, I have done it for you here...you're welcome)
Ingrid has amazing accomplishments in her own right including two shearing world records in 2009, where she set a solo eight-hour record of 470 lambs. This was while setting a two gal team record with her mum Marg, where together they smashed out 903 lambs in the eight hours. Women can do anything right?! I was lucky enough to be apart of this as I, in a former life shuffled a bit of wool around while they did the real work. This was when Ingrid and I first met and what seems like a very long time between then and now she has moved, married and multiplied! A very busy and full life but you know what they say about every great man!
The two beautiful wee Smith girls seen below are such a delight with very distinct and strong personalities. They have such a can-do attitude and was awesome to see in action around the place. Wonder what number three (due any day now) will be like? This Everyday Life Session felt like Ingrid and I spent the few hours just catching up on the past 8 years and I even took Florrie along to hang out too.
Thanks again team!
